A festival of music in and around Cumnock

Welcome to the second Cumnock Tryst. After the wonderful experience of our inaugural festival last year I have been very excited about following up with a new set of concerts and events which will enthuse people in Ayrshire and far beyond.
— Sir James MacMillan CBE

For a few autumn days the East Ayrshire town of Cumnock becomes a meeting place for music. Founded by composer Sir James MacMillan, The Cumnock Tryst brings some of the world's greatest musicians into local venues, churches and halls, with the community at the heart of all of its activities.

Thank you to everyone who supported the first Cumnock Tryst - our participants and performers, our wonderful volunteers, our friends, patrons and supporters, and of course, our audiences who packed out venues and created such a special atmosphere throughout the whole festival. You can find an archive of our 2014 programme here.

The second Cumnock Tryst will take place from 1st - 4th October 2015.

Only in its second year, James MacMillan’s Cumnock Tryst is already an extraordinary achievement. Combining first class performances with genuine community engagement is incredibly difficult to realise and a delight to witness.
