Beautiful music in memory of a very special local singer

The Cumnock Tryst Festival Chorus joins singers from the Cumnock Area Musical Production Society (CAMPS) and players from the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra in a concert dedicated to the memory of Scott Riddex who was a faithful member of both our Festival Chorus and CAMPS. This concert brings Gavin Bryars’ classic work Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet together with performances from CAMPS, the Festival Chorus, and the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra, alongside new works written by the Tryst Festival Chorus itself as part of our major community project, A Musical Celebration of the Coalfields.

We bring a number of local musicians together to celebrate the life of Scott Riddex who was a much-beloved figure locally in Cumnock. He was an enthusiastic member of CAMPS, who perform two of his favourite numbers, and of our Festival Chorus. I have composed a couple of works specially for them which integrate our instrumentalists and the strings of the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra. All ensembles then will join together for a performance of Gavin Bryars haunting and iconic modern classic, Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet. This is a concert for and of our community.
