Brass and Silver Band music has been the musical lifeblood of communities here for generations. Looking to the future we welcome the best of young Scottish brass players. Also, the marvellous young string players of Greenmill Primary School are given pride of place – with a new piece I have written specially for them!
— James MacMillan

We’re filling the Cumnock Old Church with a varied programme of big beautiful brass on Saturday evening, performed by the cream of Scotland’s young brass players. You’ll also be able to hear the talented brass players from Cumnock Academy and a brand new piece by James MacMillan, specially, written for and performed by the string orchestra of Greenmill Primary School. Join us to enjoy the spectacular talents of Scotland’s young musicians in a fantastic setting.

Festival Club at the Dumfries Arms Hotel afterwards.
