Hebrides Ensemble: Quartet for the End of Time

Sunday 1st February 2026, 5pm
Dumfries House

Join the acclaimed Hebrides Ensemble as they mark their 35th anniversary season with a powerful programme at The Cumnock Tryst. In a moving tribute to the 85th anniversary of its first performance, Hebrides Ensemble performs Olivier Messiaen’s transcendent Quartet for the End of Time, a masterpiece of 20th-century chamber music written in a prisoner-of-war camp during WWII and seminal work for Hebrides Ensemble itself, having been part of their first concert performance, and amongst their first recordings on Linn Records. The evening also features a compelling new work by rising composer Arthur Keegan, generously supported by the PRS Composers Programme, inspired by the Messiaen. A profound celebration of past and present.
